Happy Black History Month and thank you for supporting and empowering a black woman owned business!  Being intentional through my business and with this community is important to me.  This monthly check-in is to keep you in the know, recap the past and to share something -- something that keeps me going and can be an inspiration or knowledge my community has yet to uncover.

At this very moment, I'm moved by the the recent TIME issue: The Art of Optimism, a special issue guest edited by Ava Duvernay.  Optimism is hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something.  Take a moment, feel the vibe, dream, manifest, and get back to work.  Putting in the work, continuing to create excellence, and continuing to shift the odds to create history, is why we and I continue to celebrate Black History, create Black History for my legacy and change status quo of what American History represents.

I am not a designer, I am a CURATOR. I am inspired by designers and brands that fuel my lifestyle aesthetic and passion for fashion.  I am moved by the words of Brother Vellies founder, Aurora James.  "The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion," says James.  Don't rush the thought of that statement, instead think deeper for a moment.  How are you creating the change we need?  I will share my truth. I am a work in progress, but I'm working.  Working to help inspire, make change, and lead our next generation as did those who came before us.  Let's live in example or die trying, right?!

2019 is busy, duh, story of our life!   Hello to all the new faces I've met in-person and virtually this past month.  The District Warehouse Sale was a blast and I am looking forward to more amazing Pop-Up's throughout The District, this year.  A Chic Social is back again and I CAN NOT wait to provide you with an awesome experience as we grow, empower and fellowship once again in celebration of Women's month. This year is all about Beauty + Wellness. Come out and enjoy a yoga session led by Nya with Yoga with Nya; Kombucha Mocktails by Cultured Kombucha; a Beauty Demo by Nia El-Amin; and a beauty market with Lipp BeautyCandid TeaLaws of Nature Cosmetics, and Cyntherapy Scented Candles.  There will be Swag Bags and Healthy Bites. Great conversation will be led by Wellness Entrepreneurs and event documentation will be led by our amazing media host @kylalive!  This will be a day of fostering connections with amazing women, self-care, inspiration, motivation and enjoying a shared space with other like souls.  Early Bird tickets are on sale now here!  Can't make it, but want to join the community or support the mission?! Check out the additional options on the event ticket page.

Blessings to a great rest of the week!
